Traditional Magic

The Traditional Magic of India which has inspired so many other magical feats around the world is fast becoming a lost art. Traditional Indian magic was performed not just for Royal durbars, but also on the street. Magicians traveled from one village to another to present their art. It is estimated that there are about 25,000 street magicians in India. Its secrets are known to relatively few people and passed down only to family members. They spend six to seven years to learn and master this art like a student on any other profession. Today they find it difficult to compete with the new entertainment media and make a living. Urbanisation spoils their chances. People have no time to watch these street shows and the modern traffic does not provide room for such performances have no place to perform. Even the village markets are vanishing. Some of them are - Indian Rope Trick, Indian Basket Trick, Indian Mango Trick, Water of India, Dancing Duck of India.
